Yield: serves 4 as a side dish
4-8 turnips or a mix of both, each cut cone #3
alternatively a small purple top rutabaga will
do nicely, cut with cone #3
1/2 cup of diced sweet onion
about 3/4 cup of filtered water
juice of one lemon and zest
2 T. Lemon avocado oil
1/2 to 1 tbsp of maple syrup, as to your
liking
fresh herbs
salt
& pepper, optional-chili flakes for a bit of spice! Fresh chopped mintfresh herbs
Place chopped turnips and chop onion cone #2 in a medium sized skillet over medium high heat. Add water and allow to braise medium click low. Now squeeze in the lemon juice, zest, avo oil add the 1/2 tbsp of maple syrup, season with salt and pepper. Now taste and adjust sweetness to balance the flavours if need be. It should be tart but a little sweet at the same time. Sprinkle with chili flakes if you wish! Serve alongside a salad or other main dish. Enjoy! Serve with mint chopped.
